Fido has a tummy ache??

*Make sure Fido always has plenty of fresh water to flush his/her intestinal tract.
*Walking will stimulate the bowels.
*100% canned pumpkin in its pureed form (not pie filling)
*One teaspoon full (5ml) of Virgin coconut oil for a dog (less for a puppy).
*Using a warm (not hot) moist wash cloth, gently apply slight pressure on Fido’s tummy (from the bottom of the ribcage to the bottom of the tummy). This mimics the natural way a mother dog uses her tongue to help her pup to eliminate trapped gas while encouraging the elimination of waste and urine.
Inducing Vomiting
ONLY IF IT'S WITH IN 2 HOURS OF INGESTION...
DO NOT TO INDUCE VOMITING WHEN THE DOG HAS INGESTED ANY OF THE FOLLOWING...
An acid based chemical
An alkali based chemical
A household chemical/ cleaning solution/ like bleach or drain cleaner
A petroleum product such as gasoline, turpentine, kerosene
A sharp object
A product whose bottle clearly states do not induce vomiting
your dog has vomited already
your dog is unconscious your dog has labored breathing
your dog is exhibiting nervous system disorders or is seizing

Vomit inducing solution
*three percent hydrogen peroxide (3 CC's for every 20 pounds (approximately 9 kg) of your dog's weight) squirt the peroxide towards the back of the mouth**Wait ten minutes. If Fido hasn't barfed yet, repeat
*Call your vet immediately if she doesn't vomit after the second dose.

I AM NOT A VET! INTESTINAL DISTRESS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IN DOGS.
THESE ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS BASED ON MY OWN EXPERIENCE!!

If you must breed… breed wisely... PLEASE!

We as humans have been “manufacturing” mans best friends for thousands of years.
It is said all domestic dogs derived from the wolf.
And that Eugenics plays a role in our dog breeds today.
A good show to reference in this case is “Dogs Decoded” found on Netflix.
It’s all about genetics! The way Fido looks, his interactions with other dogs, animals, and people including children even his prey drive or lack thereof
I’m not saying environment doesn’t play a role in the way Fido behaves but by far genetics trumps environmental influence tenfold.
If the need to breed is in you go forth with a mindset of perfection ONLY!!
We have bred dogs for thousands of years for looks; coloring, temperament and working purpose but while doing so we have disregarded health factors and bred into Fido health issues…
Keep in mind that not all health issues are created equal. Some are easily corrected and thereafter do not adversely affect the life of the dog, others are life threatening or a lifelong burden, and some a merely a minor nuisance.
This is where I suggest health testing before breeding. That does not always correlate well with existing health issues. For example, breeders of Huskies are encouraged to check for hip problems, yet they have a very low incidence of hip problems. This is good as "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
Health testing is an expensive venture but so is replacing the knees on your best friend because as selfish humans we can’t see euthanizing our dogs… or cancer treatment… or a contraption strapped to the hind legs of your toy dog because of paralyses from a spinal defect.
I can speak from experience and this is hard for me to admit but at the young age of 25 I learned an all too real life lesson on breeding. I bred Henna and Brinks against the advice of a wise Ol’ dog person. Instead of having my dogs health tested I decided to go ahead and have the puppies evaluated afterward… the outcome was devastating ALL the puppies were genetically flawed in areas that would lead to poor quality of life. I took them one by one from the crate in the back of my van in to the vet’s office to be humanely euthanized.
Shortly after my bulldogs were spayed and neutered.
Breeding is not for everyone and those who choose to breed take on a huge responsibility.

Approximately 5 million to 7 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, and approximately 3 million to 4 million are euthanized (60 percent are dogs)  It is estimated that 1 million of those dogs are "Pit Bulls"  :*(

Happy Birthday Henna (12/12)

I brought White Noise Henna - C of Jam Up Bulldogs Kennel home at 6 weeks old after she had been weaned.
Sleek white coat, nubby tail and soulful dark brown eyes… she stole my heart.
My very first bulldog, she was and still is my baby.
She is the most loyal creature I have encountered in my life thus far and I am in debt to her my heart.
She lays patiently on my shower mat while I shower and outside my bed room door if closed… She is never far behind. She has been there right at my feet through tears and smiles and has yet to complain.
She is smart, cunning and a puppy at heart.
She comes to a verity of nick names; Henna, Henny, Nennie, Nenns, Momma….and Princess…(I think she favors Princess)
She is this woman’s best friend.
Happy Birthday Princess may we be blessed with many, many more years together!

Recall

How to get Fido to come to you when called!!
You need a bag of tasty treats and a long lead or 2 leads hooked together.
Take Fido to a area with little distraction.
Feed Fido a little treat (this will get his attention)
Show Fido the treat and step back using a command such as “here” or “come” and when he comes feed and praise him.
Repeat over and over!

AROUND THE HOUSE
With a pocket/ training pouch full of treats call Fido (again use the command you have chosen) throughout the day while going about your daily activities. When he comes treat and praise!
OFF LEASH
IT IS NOT RECOMMEND YOU LET YOUR DOG OFF LEASH IN A PUBLIC PARK UN LESS YOU ARE 100 % SURE YOUR DOG WILL RETURN WHEN CALLED.
In a secure area with little to no distractions get Fido’s attention again by feeding him a small treat.
Show Fido the treat and step back words using a command such as “here” or “come” and when he comes feed him.
Repeat over and over!
AID NEEDED
Each with treats in tow
Pace yourselves about 20 feet apart.
Feed Fido then have your aid call (using the command you have picked) and feed Fido and do this back and forth for 10 min.
(“goooooood boy or girl! In a happy excited voice. And a short but excited bout of pats)
(At the end of your training session instead of using “goooood boy or girl” use YESSSS! This becomes a command that will notify the dog that this training session is ending)

Dog Photog

One of my most favorite past times is photographing my pups.
Commands I use for taking pictures are “sit” or “down” and “stay”!
I always use a favorite toy or treat to get the dogs attention.
For the famous bulldog head tilt I use a squeaker toy. Works every time!
